Named one of Phoenix Magazine’s “Top Doctors in Phoenix for 2007” Dr. Avinash S. Khatter has a unique and
distinguished background as a medical practitioner and scientist. Dr. Khatter graduated from Johns Hopkins
University at the young age of nineteen, earning his Bachelor’s degree in Natural Science and completing
Master’s level work in Psychology and Immunology. Dr. Khatter subsequently completed his Medical Doctorate
studies at West Virginia University with Honors in Neurology, Psychiatry and Genetics. Dr. Khatter completed his
Neurology Residency at the Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix Arizona, where he was also the Chief
Resident. After his residency, Dr. Khatter completed a Fellowship in Clinical Neurophysiology at Stanford
University. Dr. Khatter returned to Phoenix as an Attending Physician and participated in teaching the residents
at the Barrow Neurological Institute, one of the nation's leading neuroscience centers.
In 1998, Dr. Khatter established the Center for Neurology and Stroke where he is Medical Director and principal
physician. He continues to teach at Midwestern University. He remains an Attending Physician at Barrow
Neurological Institute as well as Arizona Heart Hospital.
Dr. Khatter’s medical interests include stroke, nerve disease and neurophysiology. He is married, has one son,
triplet daughters and is an excellent poker player. |
